What is the Pandora’s Battery? Downgrade and unbricking machine for every PSP out there?
The rumors that have been flying around for past few weeks, have been confirmed. PSP homebrew community has struck the biggest hit to Sony so far, they have released a product (cant find more suitable name for it), which can downgrade any PSP, or even unbrick it! So called Pandora’s Battery, is a - battery, like the name says it, which if inserted in PSP will downgrade/reset PSPs firmware back to Sonys official firmware v1.50.
What is interesting that a Pandora’s Battery is not really a product as we called it. No, the homebrew community did not start a manufacturing plant for batteries. It’s a ordinary PSP battery which can be converted (yes we know that this sounds strange), to a downgrading/unbricking device. To convert the ordinary PSP battery, you will have to use homebrew developed applications which are already widely available on the Internet.
PSP homebrew community modders credited with the development of Pandora’s Battery are probably the most popular names in the community: Fanjita, Adrahil, Booster, Cswindle, Dark_AleX, Ditlew, Fanjita, Joek2100, Jim, Mathieulh, Nem, Psp250, Skylark, TyRaNiD, and Team C+D.
Noobz
You run a program on a homebrew-enabled PSP that will convert a standard PSP battery into a jigkick battery. Note that you can’t then use that battery normally - so you should use a spare one. You run a program to generate the unbricker memory stick image, built from the v1.5 update EBOOT (note that this, and the custom IPL, means the release is completely free of Sony copyright materials). You run some programs on a PC to install the image to your memory stick.
