The day after - Dark Alex releases v3.90 M33

Just a day after the release of official Sony firmware v3.90, homebrew community modder Dark Alex has released his custom firmware v3.90 M33. While still being active in the community, it seems that Dark Alex gets faster every time Sony releases new firmware update.

Amazingly, Dark Alex has released the new custom firmware via his website but v3.90 M33 is also available via Network Update directly from PSP device, even though this is available only to PSP users which already have at least v3.80 M33 custom firmware.

Like always Dark Alexe’s custom firmware rounds up all of the features from Sony’s official firmware and some more. Alongside v3.90 M33 custom firmware Dark Alex also released updated v1.5 kernel for running homebrew applications and games on PSP.

Changelog of v3.90 M33 custom firmware states some instability with Network Update option, and few other points, see the full changelog below.

  • The degeneration check and correction of IDS keys happens too in 3.71 now.
  • Added code to download 3.90 PBP from net via wifi. Note that his code is not yet 100% stable, it may crash when selecting AP. In that case, reinit the installer.
  • L+triangle has been restored as method to bypass battery. If you already have 390.PBP keep those buttons pressed until you see “Veryfing 390.PBP”. If the 390.PBP is being downloaded bia wifi, press those buttons at the end of download until you see the previous sentence
  • NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)
