With the recent announcement from Sony that they’ll start shipping out 16GB MemorySticks, it was reasonable to expect that prices of MemorySticks will smaller capacity should decline. 16GB MemoryStick announced

If you’re annoyed with the limited amount of media you can store in your PSP - don’t despair, or at least hold just a sentence or two. It is our best guess that Sony noticed how the amount of available storage in devices suddenly rose, prices fell and decided to do something similar. Announcing the March release of spanking new 16GB MemoryStick and attaching it a price tag of $300 is probably the best they could do. Not.

Sony Europe has announced the availability of an exclusive gaming promotional edition of the Memory Stick PRO Duo. Special promotion, available with 4GB or 8GB Memory Stick models, comes bundled with the “Smash Court Tennis 3″. “A perfect match” for all new PSP owners, this exclusive bundle offers the game plus increased storage capacity of multimedia data including, music files, digital photos and videos with up to 139 hours of stored music (128Kbps MP3), 5875 pictures (5Mpixels in Standard mode) and over 33 hours of video storage (MPEG-4 QVGA). This special edition Memory Stick PRO Duo product is available throughout Europe now for a limited time.

Sony MemoryStick PRO-HG, in stores soon

Just last week, Sony has presented new series of it’s flash media used in all it’s devices - MemoryStick. New series in MemoryStick family is dubbed PRO-HG, is developed in cooperation with SanDisk, and is backwards compatible with the PRO series. Most important improvements over PRO series, HG delivers in content storage, where it’s capacity can reach maximum of 32 GigaBytes, with write speeds of approximately 60MB/s.

Sony Memory Stick Entertainment Pack - to be revealed

After suffering much criticism and a flop of video UMDs, Sony has decided to release Memory Stick Entertainment Pack for all movie addicts. Memory Stick Entertainment Pack will come with either 2GB or 4GB Memory Stick Duo Pro accompanied by DVD with four movies from Sony Pictures.

Each of the movies found on the Entertaiment Pack DVD is optimized for playback on PSP, and PS3 also, stored with the 720×480 resolution. Movies which will be shipping with the first Memory Stick Entertainment Packs are : Click, Ghost Rider, RV and Stomp The Yard.

It is important to note that Sony has included a software for transferring movies to PSP directly from included DVD, so users will not have to use third party conversion-tools. Entertainment pack with 2GB Memory Stick Duo Pro will be priced $55 and 4GB will be priced about $90.
