Patapon is coming, more screenshots included

Like reported earlier, upcoming release from Sony called Patapon will hit the PSP with unique styled game. Just like previously released Loco Roco, and upcoming Echochrome, Patapon will feature stylized minimalist graphics and unique gameplay. Controling your own army of one-big-eyed creatures will be done by rhythm. Tapping buttons on PSP produces a rhythm, which then controls whether your army will attack, defend or perform other actions. In the village you will be able to use won goods to upgrade and strengthen your army.

Patapon - Preview

After briefly surfacing on the E3, Patapon went underground and was not heard of till recently. The game should be unique just like LocoRoco and upcoming Echochrome, on the grounds of graphics but mostly on the grounds of how you control the characters. Patapons will not be controlled directly with PSP directional buttons or pad but with - music.

In Patapon you will be able to control a small army of one-eyed creatures, who march in groups attacking all kinds of weird creatures and taking their gold. Back in the Patapon village you can use obtained gold to improve weapons and strengthen your army. Key point in the gameplay is that you will be controlling marching, attacking and defending of Patapons by tapping PSP in order to produce drum-like rhythm. Different rhythm you produce, patapons will act differently and do different things.
